The region’s National Public Radio (NPR) station, WVIK-FM, is in transition as the general manager and CEO is retiring and its founder and longtime beloved host is going on hiatus. The station (a service of Augustana College, Rock Island) held a farewell reception Tuesday afternoon for Jay Pearce, GM and CEO for 11 years. He moved his retirement up two months (from a planned Dec. 31), because he’s anxious to spend more time with his two grandkids (one will be 2 in December and the other 2 in March), in Champaign.

They were last on the air together back in 2012. But the Jersey Shore crew have picked up right where they left off, with Nicole 'Snooki' LaValle, 30, and Deena Nicole Cortese, 31, drinking together by the pool of the cast's rented house in Miami, Florida on Monday. While the girls chatted, the boys, including Vinny Guadagnino, 30, Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino, 35, and Paul 'DJ Pauly D' DelVecchio , got up to mischief involving a mannequin they found in the back yard.
